Sri Lanka has two capitals: the legislative capital is Sri Jayawardenepura-Kotte (Kotte), where Parliament is located, and the executive and judicial capital is Colombo, the country’s largest city and economic center. Kotte is a suburb of Colombo and was once the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Kotte, while Colombo remains a vibrant commercial hub with visible architectural influences from the colonial eras.
